Google Classroom to Begin in September
Over the years, the program to support Special Education students using technology has grown and morphed in many ways. Through sometimes trial and error, we have sought to find what works best and parents and students have been amazingly supportive as they are requested to learn new technology and change things up at the start of most years. This school year of 2018-2019 is no exception. Over the last couple of years, we have used Google Docs to share lessons in our Virtual Classroom and Edmodo to post completed assignments and mark. This has worked reasonably well, however, there have been kinks and challenges that led us to search for a better alternative. HCOS has Google Suite for Education and is opening up the opportunity for us to use it for the SE VW program. We, the teachers of SE VW, have undergone a vigorous training schedule over the summer to complete the Google Certified Educator Level 1 and 2. Our knowledge, confidence in application, and technology skills have soared and I am very thankful we have had this chance to improve our practices as teachers.
Now, for educating parents, support personnel for students and students, we will begin slowly and with lots of training over the first couple of weeks. It will be another exciting year as we explore Google Classroom and truly prepare students with skills to bring success in whatever path they follow.
Hope you have had an amazing summer!
